Scope Dope Aids Sniper Section in Longest Kill. Baghdad, Iraq-Aug 08, 2007 (Xpress Press)-The Scope Dope Ballistic Data Quick Reference System, manufactured by Scope Dope, aids snipers from 2-16th Infantry, 1st ID with their current Long Kill record. Scope Dope, manufacturers of the Scope Dope Ballistic Data Quick Reference System recently provided the Sniper Section from HHC 2-16th Infantry, 1st ID, FOB Rustamiyah near Baghdad, Iraq with some of their Scope Dope kits. After putting the units into service for a short period of time it was established that the Scope Dope system assisted one of the operational snipers with the units current Long Kill record.

The details to the long kill...A few weeks ago my battalion was tasked to clear a known enemy area. Before the mission kicked off my snipers and some of our D company element set up blocking positions around the objective area. I was with my A team sniper in a hide on a rooftop. We were in position for a few hours and it appeared we were in the cold area of the objective. The opposite side of the objective was seeing a lot of action as the clearance teams pushed through. They were receiving small arms fire and RPG fire from rooftops. Since we are in Baghdad we are generally not able to see more than a few hundred meters without buildings blocking our view. As the clearance teams pushed closer to the LOA (the road my team was set up on), we saw two men on a rooftop 720 meters away. One of the men had an AK47 and the other was acting as his spotter. Because we have not made a shot further than 400 meters since we have been in Iraq, my sniper could not remember his dope. Because he had set his scope up with your product, Scope Dope, he was able to dial in the data. My sniper then took up a good firing position and fired. After what seemed an eternity of waiting for the target to fall, I started to wonder if he had missed. It was then that we watched the target spin and fall off the roof. He had hit his mark. Taking down this guy brought the small arms fire to an end on that portion of the objective.
